Online Games: Paying Attention

Yahoo just released some stats on how many people are visiting their Games section. Some pretty hefty numbers.

Yahoo! Games attracted 21 million unique users in January. Nearly half of all casual gamers are aged 30 to 59. Also, visitors playing games on some Hearst properties like Seventeen account up to 10% of their traffic.

Just another stat to lock away for use when you are determining unique ways to communicate with your audience.

Or, think of it as information that allows you to answer your clients question of "Well, Bob, do you think we should be paying attention to online games?"

In-Game Adspend: What's Next?

Adweek (who's headline I took liberty with) has an article about growth in in-game advertising.

There's a bit of confusion as to HOW MUCH the channel is growing, but it sure is growing. And no matter what the real growth figure is, advertisers (and their agencies) need to be paying attention. This is another channel where you should be learning and experimenting so that you better understand what investment should and can be made down the road.
